“Progress is the activity of today and the assurance of tomorrow.” Placement is one of the core hubs of education. DISHA- The placement cell of NMKRV College for Women plays a crucial role and takes every effort to expose the students to the wide-ranging career prospects and help them to march out of our portal with confidence. The aim of the cell is to ensure that the students attain the knowledge and skills necessary for an effective job search. Skill enhancement training (pre-placement training) is given to the final year students in the areas of aptitude tests, resume writing, interview skills, extempore and group discussion techniques. The placement cell builds and maintains a healthy database of students and companies that visit the institution every year to recruit young talents. Almost all the major companies like Deloitte, Wipro, HCL, Citi Bank, HDFC, CTS, Infosys, TCS, State Street, etc. visited the campus for recruitment.

DISHA
  • “DISHA” was established in the academic year 2007-2008
  • Disha is a sanskrit word that means “Direction.” It is a platform dedicated to guiding our students in the right direction in their careers as well as their lives
  • Disha is a full-fledged training and placement centre that works on the core principle of “College to Career.” In simple terms, it means that students who graduate are ready to take on their chosen careers with a sense of purpose and direction
  • Disha focuses on bridging the gap between the academic curriculum and the expectations of industries by enabling students with CAKES- (Competency, Attitude, Knowledge, ethics, and skill)

Disha has drawn up an extensive action plan for achieving its goals. It has empaneled the best professionals, consultants, and training bodies who work in close tandem with Disha to achieve excellence in the training and development of the students

OBJECTIVES

  • The centre is managed by the coordinator
  • The compulsory pre-placement training programme has been conducted for all final year UG students
  • Training on personality development, skill development programmes, group discussion, and interview techniques is also provided by the centre. All such classes are arranged on campus after class hours for the convenience of students. Infrastructure facilities for conducting such classes are provided by the institution
  • The centre conducts career guidance programmes to enlighten students about the job market and the necessary skills for employability
  • The placement centre coordinator and team member interacts with potential employers and invites them for campus placement. Those companies that approach the institution for placement are invited after a background screening
  • The placement team member notifies the Heads of Departments (HODs) in the relevant departments about the specified job 
  • The students are made aware of the employment opportunities and vacancies that arise in various organisations through the notice board and the departments
  • Students are also directed to the respective institutions and firms if the recruitment is conducted outside the campus
  • The placement centre is in constant touch with various employers and invites them for campus interviews
  • The centre attempts to increase the employability of the learners
  • The placement centre maintains an up-to-date database of all outgoing students to facilitate access to prospective employers. It has also initiated campus-based interviews with great success
  • In the last five years, more than 350 students got placements in reputed institutions like WIPRO, HP, Fidelity, Greet Technologies, IBM, TCS, JP Morgan, Northern Trust, ICICI, Reliance, and so forth with the help of the placement centre
