Research, considered the primary aim of higher education, not only contributes to a person’s academic growth, but it also helps society achieve sustainable development. There are many government and non-government organisations that have been funding a lot of research. The new education policy 2020 manifests a desire to create a National Research Foundation (NRF), aiming to enable a culture of research to permeate our universities. Expecting its significance much earlier, NMKRV College for Women has made an impeccable contribution towards research. Since 2018, the college has worked towards quality research under the research cell called the Centre for Coordination of Research. (CCR).

POLICY FOR PROMOTION OF RESEARCH

  • In order to promote research activities, the college has a recognised research and development cell called the Centre for Coordination of Research (CCR) that scrutinises all research projects funded by various funding agencies and Rasthreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST)
  • NMKRV College for Women fosters a culture of research excellence, encouraging its faculty members to actively seek and apply for research projects funded by various state, national and international funding agencies, adhering to UGC norms
  • NMKRV College for Women inspires teachers without a Ph.D. degree to embark on and complete their doctoral journey by offering study leave. Additionally, faculty members receive TA/DA facilities to showcase their research findings at both national and international conferences. The recruitment and promotion of faculty at NMKRV College for Women are anchored in the commitment to quality research across science, commerce, and humanities
  • As per the university’s Ph.D. regulations, associate and assistant professors with the relevant years of experience and necessary publications are duly acknowledged and eligible to mentor students pursuing their Ph.D. studies
  • The college actively promotes its faculty members to collaborate and establish Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with universities both within India and abroad
  • The institution acknowledge the academic excellence, research achievements, publications and annual research milestones during the Republic Day celebration

POLICY ON ETHICS

In the research journey, from proposal to publication, it’s crucial to adhere to ethical codes set by professional bodies. Organisations like COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) play a crucial role in identifying misconduct. It’s essential to distinguish between serious scientific fraud and honest errors, which can result from negligence or be part of the normal research process. Handling potential cases with care is imperative, as academic careers could be at risk.

RULES TO BE FOLLOWED BY THE ETHICAL COMMITTEE IN CASE OF ANY ISSUE OR PROBLEM:

  • Remain impartial and keep all allegations confidential
  • Keep records of written communication, including the allegation and the evidence of the complainant
  • Discuss the issue with the alleged co-author promptly
  • A comprehensive examination of the events must occur, and final decisions should be communicated transparently
  • In cases where major attention is needed, bring the case to the attention of the principal or the trust

Rules to be followed by an author:

  • Authors must ensure the originality of their work and provide appropriate citations for any content borrowed from others
  • Proper acknowledgment should be given to publications influencing the reported work, placing it within the scholarly context. Information obtained privately must not be used without written permission
  • Plagiarism in various forms, such as passing off others work as one’s own or copying without attribution, is considered unethical and unacceptable
  • Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical behaviour and is unacceptable
